LEVERKUSEN, Germany (AP) - Bayer Leverkusen has signed promising French forward Moussa Diaby from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Bundesliga club says in a statement that the 19-year-old Diaby has signed a five-year-deal through June 2024.
Diaby, who plays for France’s under-20 side, made 34 appearances under PSG coach Thomas Tuchel last season, scoring four goals and setting up seven more.
Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes says: “It’s an impressive quota at a top international club like PSG. He’s one of the biggest French prospects who has the best conditions here in Leverkusen to develop further into an absolute top player.”
Kicker magazine reported that Leverkusen is paying 15 million euros ($16.8 million) for Diaby, who had one year left on his PSG contract. The French side will reportedly also receive 20% of any sell-on fee.
Diaby is Leverkusen’s second signing of the offseason after Kerem Demirbay arrived for a club-record 32 million euros from league rival Hoffenheim.
