LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas will get three new City Council members, a North Las Vegas councilman kept his seat and Boulder City will have a new mayor and two new council members after municipal elections on Tuesday.
Boulder City voters picked Councilman Kiernan McManus to serve as mayor over incumbent Rob Woodbury, who had held the office since 2015. McManus’ seat will be filled in a special election, according to the Las Vegas Sun.
In two other Boulder City races, James Adams and Claudia Bridges ousted incumbent council members Peggy Leavitt and Rich Shuman.
While incumbents were voted out in Boulder City, there’s was less of an appetite for change 30 miles (48 kilometers) away in North Las Vegas. Councilman Richard Cherchio beat back a challenge from Pete Shields.
In Las Vegas, former Assemblywoman Olivia Diaz defeated Melissa Clary in an open race for the city’s 3rd Ward, while Brian Knudsen won another open seat in the city’s 1st Ward over Robin Munier.
Former Assemblywoman Victoria Seaman won a special election for the city’s 2nd Ward, defeating seven others in a special election for the open seat, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
The council seat had been held by Steve Seroka, who resigned in March in the face of a recall campaign launched by those upset over his opposition to a residential development on a closed golf course.
