CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Officials say a man was stopped at a West Virginia airport carrying a loaded handgun.

The Transportation Security Administration on Monday said the firearm was detected in the man’s carry-on bag at Yeager Airport. He also had an additional loaded magazine.

The Buffalo, West Virginia, resident told security that he forgot he had his gun with him. His name was not released. Airport police confiscated the gun, and the man was later cleared to fly without the weapon.

The TSA says it’s the third gun found at the security checkpoint this year.
