All Michael Pierce got to do Tuesday was stretch. Then his coaches told him to pack it in.
The Baltimore Ravens decided to withhold the defensive tackle from practicing because he didn’t appear to be in good enough shape.
“He’s not ready to practice from a safety standpoint and for his own health,” coach John Harbaugh said. “We recognize that and pulled him off.”
Pierce is listed at 340 pounds, but reporters at the Ravens’ practice facility said he appeared to be even heavier than that.
“He’s not ready for this practice yet. I think you could probably tell,” Harbaugh added.
Pierce, 26, is entering his fourth NFL season, all with Baltimore. The Ravens retained him with a restricted free agent tender this spring.
