As their star quarterback recovers from shoulder surgery he had in January, the Carolina Panthers made the unusual decision to livestream all of Cam Newton’s throws at minicamp this week on social media.

To further build the hype for Newton’s return, the Panthers posted a video to their website in which Newton addresses his supposed doubters.

“A lot of people are looking at me as if everything’s over,” Newton said. “A lot of people are saying they’ve seen the best of Cam Newton. Pretty much, I refuse to give up. This is going to make me even more dangerous.

“Even though there’s so much doubt, even though it’s so much uncertainty. Hearing the whispers of ’He don’t got it no more’ fuels me. That’s what makes this comeback even more extraordinary for me.”

The whole thing has shades of former Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and his “All In for Week 1” ad campaign with Adidas. Perhaps Newton’s will be more successful.
