RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - Southern California authorities have determined that video appearing to show two men forcing a girl into a car was not a kidnapping.
A witness reported the possible abduction of a girl Sunday in Riverside, and police released surveillance video showing the scene.
Police noted, however, there were no matching reports of a missing girl.
The department said Monday that detectives determined that a young Placentia woman had come to Riverside with her boyfriend and his family to swim with friends in the Santa Ana River bottom, where she became intoxicated.
On the way home, they stopped so she could retrieve something from the car’s trunk, became belligerent and tried to climb into the trunk.
Two other passengers pulled her out and put her back in the car.
