The Los Angeles Lakers plan to start LeBron James at point guard rather than small forward next season, Yahoo Sports reported.

The Lakers and their new coach, Frank Vogel, will try to mix things up to maximize the talent on their roster. The team traded for power forward Anthony Davis in the offseason and turned over much of the roster.

The Lakers’ new starting five could turn out to be James and Danny Green in the backcourt, Davis and Kyle Kuzma at forward and newly signed DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins at center.

James is 6-foot-8 and would likely be one of the tallest point guards in the NBA, evoking 6-foot-9 Laker great Magic Johnson. The Philadelphia 76ers’ Ben Simmons is 6-foot-10. James has played some point earlier in his career with the Cavaliers and Heat.

“It’s a role he’s more than comfortable handling because he’s operated primarily as a point-forward for the bulk of his career,” Yahoo’s Chris Haynes wrote.
