LeBron James is not the only NBA superstar switching jersey numbers this offseason.
Kevin Durant announced in an Instagram post that he will wear No. 7 with his new team, the Brooklyn Nets. Durant previously wore No. 35 throughout his NBA career.
Durant joined the Nets during free agency after three years with the Golden State Warriors. He signed a four-year deal worth up to $164 million with Brooklyn.
In a different Instagram post, one on the account for his business “Thirty Five Ventures,” Durant wrote about his decision to switch numbers.

“35 took my family and me from Seat Pleasant, MD and showed us the world,” Durant’s post read in part. “35 was chosen in honor of someone very near and dear to me. I will always honor him and honor the number 35. But as I start this new chapter in my basketball life, the number I’ll be wearing on my back is the number 7 next time you see me on the floor.”
After Anthony Davis was traded from the Pelicans to the Lakers earlier this offseason, LeBron James said Davis could continue to wear jersey No. 23 in Los Angeles. James will switch from No. 23 to No. 6 for the second time in his career.
