CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) - Federal Aviation Administration officials are investigating the death of skydiving instructor in a jump last week near Casa Grande.

An FAA spokesman says the male instructor and a female student were conducting a tandem jump Friday.

The student remains hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.

Authorities haven’t released the names of the injured woman or the instructor who died.

An FAA safety inspector has been sent to the accident site on the Gila River Indian Community.

Officials say the FAA’s skydiving accident investigations typically focus on whether the instructor was properly certificated and whether the parachutes were properly packed by the appropriate person.

The Casa Grande Dispatch reports the Cessna plane used for the jump is registered to an undisclosed person in Utah.
