ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Police in St. Paul are trying to figure out who damaged nearly 50 rental electric scooters around the city.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that a representative from Spin, a San Francisco-based company that offers the scooters, filed a police report Friday claiming 49 of its scooters were smashed over the court of three days. Some of the scooters brake lines had been cut.
Police spokesman Steve Linders said someone called 911 on June 27 to report a man slamming scooters to the ground. The man had fled by the time officers arrived.
Riders can use a smartphone app to unlock the scooters for about $1. A minute of ride-time costs about 15 cents.
Divers in Portland, Oregon, last week fished more than 50 scooters out of the Willamette River.
