RICHMOND — Another day, another Trent Williams rumor.
As the Redskins left tackle continues his holdout from training camp, reports have swirled whether Washington would be willing to trade the seven-time Pro Bowler. The Athletic’s Jeff Howe reported the Redskins are “having trade discussions” regarding Williams and added the New England Patriots could be involved.
The Redskins are having trade discussions regarding tackle Trent Williams, according to a source. Unclear what type of compensation they’d require in a trade. There’s a feeling around the league the Patriots would be involved due to depth issues at the position.

NBC Sports Washington added the Redskins are “gauging interest” from around the NFL about a potential Williams deal.
It’s unclear if the Redskins are just doing their due diligence or are seriously exploring moving on from the 31-year-old. A team source told NBC Sports Washington that he hadn’t heard of any trade rumors involving Williams.
With Williams’ absence, the Redskins have continued to add depth at the position. After initially singing veteran Corey Robinson, Washington added three-time Pro Bowler Donald Penn — who revealed to reporters Wednesday that he spoke with Williams about the Redskins before joining the team.

Penn, 36, is a serious candidate to start at left tackle, should Williams not be available for Week 1.
Williams has two years left on his contract at an affordable rate, meaning the Redskins don’t necessarily have to trade Williams.
But the star left tackle is trying to create leverage by staying away from the team, all while the offensive line struggles without him.
If a team calls the #Redskins about Trent Williams and they pick up the phone and say “we’re not interested” then have there been talks?

If you think yes, the #Redskins have had talks about trading Trent. If you believe those aren’t talks (I don’t), then they haven’t per sources
