LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Latest on arrest a police standoff with a kidnap suspect in Los Angeles (all times local):

8:06 a.m.

Los Angeles police have taken a kidnap suspect into custody after an approximately five-hour standoff in downtown Los Angeles.

SWAT officers used tear gas to force the man out of a parked car shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday but did not find the alleged victim.

Authorities had been seeking 27-year-old Robert Anthony Camou since witnesses reported seeing 31-year-old Amanda Kathleen Custer being put into the back of the car on Monday in suburban Monrovia.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Scott Hoglund says officers found blood at the scene in Monrovia.

Hoglund says Monrovia police have handled numerous domestic violence incidents involving the pair.

Los Angeles police say the case has been turned back over to the Sheriff’s Department and Monrovia police.

A section of downtown Los Angeles is off-limits during the morning rush as police try to get a kidnapping suspect in a car to surrender.

A standoff has been underway for several hours Tuesday, and police have brought in armored vehicles to prevent the car from moving.
