MIDDLESEX, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police are looking for a person of interest in an arson in Middlesex.

Police say someone entered a garage on the morning of July 16, spread an accelerant on the floor and on pieces of furniture and boxes and lit them on fire.

The homeowner was able to extinguish the fire.

A young man was seen walking on Terrace Street in Montpelier toward Middlesex that morning. Police say he was wearing a backpack and a baseball hat and had tattoos on his left hand and possibly his neck.

Police say he is a person of interest in the investigation.

Anyone with information about his identity is asked to contact the state police barracks in Middlesex or Williston or to call the arson tip line at 1-800-32-ARSON.
