HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Gov. Ned Lamont has enlisted two top advisers to take a closer look at the management of two quasi-public agencies, the Connecticut Lottery and the Connecticut Port Authority, and determine whether changes are needed.
The Democrat said Tuesday he has become increasingly concerned about reports of leadership strife at the lottery, adding that “players must have confidence the games they are playing are well-managed” and taxpayers must know the lottery is being run professionally.
Last week, Lamont called for the new chair of the Connecticut Port Authority’s board to step down after the agency paid the woman’s daughter $3,000 for office art. The port authority’s executive director has also been placed on paid administrative leave from the organization, which has faced issues concerning hiring practices and staffing decisions.
