The Washington Nationals placed ace Max Scherzer on the league’s paternity list Wednesday, but the pitcher is still expected to make his next start on Saturday.

In a corresponding move, the Nationals promoted infielder Adrian Sanchez from Double-A Harrisburg.

Scherzer’s wife, Erica May, is due with the couple’s second child. Scherzer’s first daughter, Brooklyn, was born in November 2017.

Earlier Wednesday, Scherzer was named the National League’s pitcher of the month.
