INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An online health insurance company plans spending at least $10 million to establish a divisional office in Indianapolis.

Executives of Santa Clara, California-based eHealth Inc. announced Monday it had picked the city as its eastern U.S. technology and operations headquarters. The company provides online services for consumers to compare and buy health insurance coverage from various insurance carriers.

The company says it now has 125 workers in Indianapolis. It plans expanding by the end of 2023 to perhaps 500 employees in fields including software, engineering and sales.

Company CEO Scott Flanders graduated from an Indianapolis high school and has an Indiana University law degree.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. is giving eHealth up to $11.5 million in tax credits and training grants based on its hiring plans.
