LAS VEGAS (AP) - Two Nevada Democratic legislators known for their work on education and tackling gun violence are endorsing Democrat Kamala Harris for president.

Harris’ campaign says the backing of state Sen. Joyce Woodhouse and Assemblywoman Sandra Jauregui on Monday give the California senator 23 endorsements in Nevada.

One other legislator, state Sen. Pat Spearman, previously endorsed Harris.

Woodhouse says in a statement released by the campaign that Harris’ $315 billion plan to raise teacher pay nationally is “ambitious” and “meaningful” and will improve education for Nevada students.

Jauregui, who survived the 2017 mass shooting on the Las Vegas Strip and went on sponsor a gun control law at Nevada’s Legislature, says Harris will take “bold action to save lives from gun violence.”
