Baltimore Ravens quarterback Robert Griffin III fractured his thumb at practice Saturday and will miss the next 4 to 8 weeks.

Griffin suffered the injury when his hand made contact with a player’s helmet. The former Redskins quarterback will reportedly miss all of the preseason, but should be fine for the regular season.

Griffin is entering his second year with the Ravens. He spent last year as the third-string quarterback but became the backup when Baltimore traded Joe Flacco to Denver in the offseason. Griffin re-signed with Baltimore on a two-year deal in March.
