BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) - A 12-year-old boy from the Bremerton area has died after he was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with an apparent gunshot wound to the back of the head.
The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office says the boy died early Friday.
The sheriff’s office said Friday that deputies were called to the boy’s home at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday for a boy found unconscious and bleeding from an unknown head injury.
The sheriff’s office says a semi-automatic handgun was found by paramedics underneath the boy.
The sheriff’s office says evidence from the investigation indicates that the shooting was self-inflicted.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of the boy’s death.
