CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Chattanooga plans to add women’s beach volleyball as a varsity sport.

Athletic director Mark Wharton announced Thursday that beach volleyball would become Chattanooga’s 16th NCAA program.

The Mocs will play a limited schedule in the spring of 2020 but won’t be eligible for NCAA postseason competition until they play their first full schedule in the spring of 2021.

Chattanooga’s initial roster for beach volleyball will include the members of the school’s indoor volleyball team who retain eligibility in the spring of 2020.

All future home matches will take place at the newly constructed UTC Sports Complex next to Engel Stadium in downtown Chattanooga.
