RENTON, Wash. (AP) - The Seattle Seahawks added needed depth on their defensive line by signing tackle Earl Mitchell on the eve of training camp.

Mitchell’s signing came two days after the Seahawks learned they would be without Jarran Reed for the first six games of the season. Reed was suspended for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

The 32-year-old Mitchell spent the past two seasons with San Francisco, starting 28 of 30 games played. He had 33 tackles in 2017 and 28 last season. He’s unlikely to provide the same kind of interior pass rush as Reed but should be a solid option against the run.

Seattle also signed wide receiver Daniel Williams and released running back Marcelias Sutton and cornerback Derrek Thomas.

The Seahawks placed safety Lano Hill on the physically unable to perform list and wide receiver Caleb Scott on the non-football injury list.
