MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - The Missoula County sheriff’s office is investigating possible criminal charges after an explosion destroyed a camper trailer west of Missoula, burning the man inside.

Missoula Rural Fire Battalion Chief Blaine Cowan says the explosion and fire were reported at about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday. The explosion spread debris over a fairly wide area at the trailer court. A second trailer was damaged but no one else was injured.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Brenda Basset says investigators determined a fire started in the oven and ignited a nearby butane tank. She says the resident, who is in his 30s, was taken to the hospital with “really very bad burns.”

Basset said investigators were “looking at the criminal aspect of this” but declined to explain further.
