LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The University of Louisville says it has had its most successful year securing funding for research since 2012, with more than $150 million flowing in for projects.
The university says the funding was for the fiscal year 2018-19. It’s an increase of $14 million from the previous fiscal year, and ranged from projects on gum disease to e-cigarettes, robots and sexual assault investigations.
Robert S. Keynton, the university’s interim executive vice president for research and innovation, says the research done with the funding “can change, improve and even save lives.”
Among the projects was $18 million over five years from the National Institutes of Health for a biomedical research center.
School faculty received a preliminary total of 950 grants from federal and state government as well as private sources.
