SEATTLE (AP) - Seattle has paid $1.5 million to a man who was hit by a bus after he was thrown from his bicycle when it hit streetcar tracks.

The Seattle Times reported Thursday that the city reached a settlement with Daniel Ahrendt, who broke his leg and pelvis in the May 2015 crash.

Ahrendt said in his lawsuit that a bus ran over his lower body after he fell from his bicycle when its front wheel got caught in a track gap.

He was hospitalized for 30 days.

The city did not admit liability in the settlement.

Ahrendt said in a statement that he hopes the lawsuit will help prevent similar accidents from occurring.

He said nine other bicycle crashes involving the streetcar tracks happened before his crash and seven occurred after.
