HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Gov. Ned Lamont is urging Connecticut residents to prepare for the extremely hot weather that’s predicted over the coming days.
The Democrat on Thursday noted this will be the first period of extreme heat this summer and he wanted to remind everyone - particularly vulnerable communities like the elderly, young children and people with respiratory problems - to seek a place to get out of the heat. Cooling centers can be located by calling 2-1-1.
The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the entire state, beginning Friday and continuing over the weekend. The combination of heat and humidity could make it feel 107 degrees to 112 degrees.
Lamont is also urging people to check in on people who are most at-risk for health-related illness.
