DUNWOODY, Ga. (AP) - People with outstanding traffic tickets or a missed court date will soon be able to get amnesty in the Georgia city of Dunwoody.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Dunwoody Municipal Court will waive extra contempt fees in August for individuals who pay overdue fines in full.
The court says it will assign new court dates for those who need to appear in front of a judge, and will clear all warrants and warrant fees.
Dunwoody Municipal Court Clerk Norlaundra Huntington says some people may think the program is a “trick,” but it’s not. Huntington says the goal is to encourage people to show up to court by easing the financial burden.
Individuals can go to the court on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays next month to settle their case.
