HOUSTON (AP) - About 125 visiting students who evacuated from Louisiana State University to Texas as Tropical Storm Barry approached will stay in Houston to finish their three-week summer program.

Shawna Young with the Duke University Talent Identification Program said Tuesday that the youths, from middle and high schools across the country, will be at Rice University through July 27.

Young says the students began the Duke-affiliated program July 7 in Baton Rouge, but were bused from the LSU campus amid concerns about possible flooding. The children arrived at the Rice campus, about 260 miles (418 kilometers) away, early Friday.

The LSU campus was closed for the weekend, due to the weather, but reopened Monday.
