CHICOPEE, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man who led police on a high-speed chase has been charged with attempted murder and kidnapping.

State Police say Tahj McCormick of Springfield was stopped by a trooper Friday on I-90 Westbound in Chicopee for a lanes violation. McCormick gave the trooper a fake name and took off.

Police say a woman got out of the car while it was still moving and was briefly dragged before breaking free. Police say McCormick kept going at more than 90 miles per hour on two flat tires.

Police say the car eventually crashed into a guardrail and McCormick fled on foot before being arrested.

He faces charges including attempted murder, kidnapping and resisting arrest.

He’s being held without bail and is expected to appear in court Monday. It wasn’t immediately clear Saturday whether he has a lawyer.
