FOREST PARK, Ga. (AP) - Kroger plans to build a new $121 million distribution center in metro Atlanta.
Gov. Brian Kemp’s office announced the supermarket chain’s expansion in a news release, saying the new facility in Clayton County will employ 410 workers.
Kroger is building the distribution center with Ocado Solutions, a company that specializes in robotics, automation and other technologies. Kroger officials said the new center will serve customers across the Southeast. It will be located in Forest Park, about 10 miles (16 kilometers) south of Atlanta.
Kroger Atlanta division President Tim Brown said the facility will “bring customers across the coverage area fresher food faster than ever before.”
Cincinnati-based Kroger operates 2,800 stores and employs nearly 500,000 workers in the U.S.
