PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The company that runs Rhode Island’s lottery is accusing the casino operator of asking for a cut of their revenue to support their proposed contract extension.
WPRI-TV reports International Game Technology Chairman Robert Vincent says they were approached in May by Twin River Worldwide Holdings, which operates Rhode Island’s two casinos. He says they wanted IGT to forgo tens of millions of dollars a year.
Twin River executive Marc Crisafulli told The Providence Journal Twin River proposed expanding its role when it appeared the governor had struck a tentative agreement to give IGT an even better deal than currently proposed.
Lawmakers will decide this fall whether to approve a 20-year contract extension with IGT.
Twin River doesn’t want IGT to have a monopoly on video lottery terminals, including slot machines, at the casinos.
