LAS VEGAS (AP) - A judge in Las Vegas set bail at $500,000 and ordered house arrest for a former pro football player awaiting trial on murder and 20 felony child abuse charges in the death of his girlfriend’s 5-year-old daughter.

Former NFL and Canadian Football League running back Cierre (SEE’-ayr) Wood remained jailed Thursday.

His attorney, Thomas Ericsson, declined to comment.

Wood and 26-year-old girlfriend Amy Taylor are accused of fatally injuring Taylor’s daughter, La’Rayah Davis, by physical abuse.

Both have pleaded not guilty.

Authorities say La’Rayah was found bruised and lifeless April 9 in Wood’s apartment in Las Vegas.

Wood is 28. He played for Notre Dame before brief stints with three U.S. teams and the Montreal Alouettes in Canada.

Ericsson says Wood worked in Las Vegas as a health care associate.
