AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Three former state prosecutors are facing allegations of official misconduct in connection with the case of a former chemist authorities say was high almost every day she worked at a state drug lab in Amherst for eight years.
The Boston Globe reported Tuesday the Office of the Bar Counsel alleges the attorneys - Anne Kaczmarek, Kris Foster, and John Verner - withheld evidence from defendants, district attorneys, and a judge in the case of Sonja Farak.
Thomas Kiley, a lawyer representing Kaczmarek, told the Globe that “holding individual assistant attorneys general responsible for systemic failures is a questionable public policy.”
Foster’s attorney said she violated no ethical rule by following her supervisor’s reasonable instructions.
Verner joined the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office in 2016. An aide to the district attorney said Verner has served with integrity.
