Washington Redskins special teams coordinator Ben Kotwica has taken the same job with the Atlanta Falcons, the Falcons announced.
It marks the first known change to the Redskins’ coaching staff this offseason.

Kotwica spent five seasons as Washington’s special teams coordinator. A source told The Washington Times that the Redskins did not fire Kotwica, but gave him permission to speak with the Falcons.
The Redskins granted Ben Kotwica permission to speak with the Falcons, according to a person familiar with the situation. He was not fired.

The Redskins’ special teams had its bright spots and its drawbacks under Kotwica. Punter Tress Way had a career year in 2018, but there was inconsistency on punt returns and coverage.
