The court filing says Rooney paid a fine and his hearing was waived.
D.C. United issued the following:
“We are aware of news reports indicating that Wayne Rooney was arrested in December. We understand the media’s interest in this matter but we believe this is a private matter for Wayne that D.C. United will handle internally. We have no further comment on this situation.”
Rooney came stateside for the first time in his career last year, joining United on a three-and-a-half year contract. United’s fortunes changed as soon as he suited up, going from the worst in the league to a playoff berth.
Rooney was also arrested for driving under the influence in England in 2017.
