Christian Bale compared former Vice President Dick Cheney to Satan during his acceptance speech at Sunday night’s Golden Globes.

The Welsh actor, giving thanks in his native accent after winning best actor in a comedy or musical for “Vice,” said he got the role because he specializes in playing “charisma-free [expletive].”

“Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration,” he said about playing Mr. Cheney.

There’s more to come in the vein of playing Republican politicians whom Hollywood and prestige-movie audiences can be counted on to hate.

“Whaddya think, Mitch McConnell next?” he said.
