Jay Gruden will return to coach the Redskins in 2019.
Coming off a second straight 7-9 season, Gruden told reporters Monday he still had to meet with owner Daniel Snyder to find out about his status next season. But Gruden was officially told he’ll be returning, according to NBC Sports Washington.
Gruden, whose return was largely expected, has two years left on his contract after signing an extension in 2017. In five seasons, Gruden has led the Redskins to a 35-44-1 record with only one playoff appearance.
It remains to be seen whether the Redskins will make any changes to their coaching staff.
