One of the workers illegally hired by the Trump Organization will attend the State of the Union address next week as the guest of a New Jersey Democratic lawmaker.
Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman announced Thursday that she invited Victorina Morales, who worked at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, to come to the event.
“I hope that in his State of the Union Donald Trump will finally acknowledge the real face of immigrants in this country,” she said in a statement. “And if he can’t, I’ve invited Victorina so that he may look in her eyes and tell his lies to a familiar face.”
Ms. Watson Coleman slammed the Trump Organization for relying “extensively on the hard work of undocumented immigrants,” like her guest, to maintain their resorts.
Ms. Morales was featured in a New York Times article in December that highlighted the interactions she and several other illegal immigrants hired by the organization had with President Trump.
The announcement comes as the Trump Organization announced it would start using the federal E-Verify system to ensure it’s not hiring individuals who are in the U.S. illegally.
