Michael Moore ripped Republican members of Congress on the eve of Democrats taking control of the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday.

The liberal filmmaker behind documentaries including “Bowling for Columbine” and “Fahrenheit 9/11” took to Twitter to count down to Republicans losing control of the House while simultaneously slamming President Trump.

“We are less than 15 hours away from taking the keys to the Clown Car away from the House Republicans. They will be sent to the Time Out room to think about their silence & collaboration with a traitor to all that we believe America is and can be. History will not be kind to them,” Mr. Moore tweeted Wednesday.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, is slated to become speaker of the House when the 116th Congress officially goes into session Thursday at 12 noon. She previously held that role from 2007 to 2011 prior to being succeeded by Reps. John Boehner and Paul Ryan, both Republicans.

A vocal critic of the Trump administration, Mr. Moore, 64, previously urged voters to elect Democratic candidates in the Nov. 2018 midterm races that resulted in Republicans losing control of the House.

His most recent movie, “Fahrenheit 11/9,” examined Mr. Trump’s win during the 2016 presidential race and his subsequent stint in office.

“I think the man is an evil genius and he was able to outsmart the smartest person ever to run for president,” Mr. Moore said previously about Mr. Trump.

“He figured out how to win by losing the election. How did that happen? Historians are going to deal with this for years to come.”

Released in 2002, “Bowling for Columbine,” Mr. Moore’s film about the 1999 Columbine High School massacre beaLittletonon, Colorado, won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature the following year. His next film, 2004’s “Fahrenheit 9/11,” focused on the U.S. response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
