Washington Wizards forward Markieff Morris will not participate in any basketball activities for six weeks after being diagnosed with transient cervical neuropraxia, the team announced.
Neuropraxia is a mild nerve injury. Morris was evaluated Wednesday in Dallas by Dr. Andrew Dossett, who gave him the diagnosis.
Morris was hit in the chin during the Wizards’ game Dec. 16 against the Los Angeles Lakers. The team said he reaggravated the injury in a Dec. 26 game against the Detroit Pistons.
Morris has averaged 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per game over 34 appearances this season.
The Wizards have also lost point guard John Wall (heel surgery) for the year, and center Dwight Howard (back surgery) is going to miss at least another month.
