BRUNSWICK, Maine (AP) - A private music teacher is facing six counts of unlawful sexual contact with a 9-year-old student.

Police say 31-year-old Joshua King of Wiscasset was arrested earlier this month regarding the student at the Brunswick Music Center in downtown Brunswick.

WMTW-TV reports court documents allege such unlawful sexual touching dates back to 2017, with the most recent alleged incident happening this past month.

King’s court date is set for late April.

Attorney Michael Turndorf says King intends to plead not guilty. King was released on cash bail from Cumberland County Jail and has been living with family in Wiscasset.

Turndorf says King was well-respected and had been teaching for several years.

The owner of Brunswick Music Center says King no longer works there.
