Former Florida mayor and gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum has joined CNN as a political commentator, the Democrat announced Tuesday morning.
“Thrilled to be joining @CNN as a political commentator,” Mr. Gillum tweeted to his 569,000 followers, including a smiling photo of himself.
The news comes four days after the Florida Commission on Ethics found probable cause on five counts alleging the former Tallahassee mayor accepted unreported gifts in 2016 during out-of-town excursions with lobbyists. The case will now head to the Division of Administrative Hearings in a public hearing, likely in the next month or two, Mr. Gillum’s lawyer told The Tampa Bay Times.
Mr. Gillum, a progressive who was endorsed by self-described democratic socialist Sen. Bernard Sanders, lost the November election to Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.
