Roger Stone told Fox News Friday night that the indictment lodged against him on Thursday by special counsel Robert Mueller is “fabricated.

“There are several things in the indictment that are simply not true,” he said in an interview on Tucker Carlson Tonight.

“Perhaps someone is bearing false witness against me, but knowing what is in my email and in my text messages, there is no corroboration whatsoever for this.

Mr. Stone was arrested at his Florida home on Friday on charges of lying to Congress, and obstructing the House investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. He will appear before a Washington DC federal judge on Tuesday.

Mr. Stone said the indictment is about silencing him.

“There is a war where they are trying to criminalize free speech,” he said. “I intend to plead not guilty. I believe I will be vindicated.”
