CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Members of New Hampshire’s Democratic congressional delegation say they are relieved that President Donald Trump has agreed to reopen the government, and are hopeful for thoughtful discussion about border security.

They called the shutdown unnecessary and reckless.

Democrat Annie Kuster said Friday said she’s ready to work toward reforms that will increase security, provide protections for young Dreamer immigrants brought to the country illegally as children, temporary protected status immigrants, and improve the process for asylum seekers feeling violence.

Republican Gov. Chris Sununu called Trump’s announcement “good news,” and said politicians in Washington need to get to work and embrace a spirit of compromise over the coming weeks to find a long-term solution that keeps the government open while also securing the border.
