MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) - Fire officials say a 75-year-old Connecticut man was killed when his own car slid down his icy driveway and rolled onto him.

Middletown South Fire District Chief Michael Howley says 75-year-old Rodley Russo died as a result of his injuries Monday afternoon.

The Connecticut Post reports that Russo apparently couldn’t reach the top of the steep driveway, so got out and walked to the rear of his car.

Russo was conscious and alert when he was taken to the hospital, but later died.

It was the second weather-related death in Middletown over the holiday weekend. Authorities say 43-year-old Howard “Lonnie” Duffy died Sunday when a tree fell on him as he repaired power lines. The East Haddam man worked for a contractor for utility Eversource.
