WASHINGTON (AP) - Police in Washington, D.C., say two teens have been arrested and charged as adults in the beating and attempted car-jacking of an area dog-walker.

The Washington Post reports 16-year-old Kaveyon Andrews and 17-year-old Thadduse Hartridge are charged with assault with intent to rob while armed and armed carjacking. Police say they are also charged in two other area robberies.

Police have said one of the teens assaulted the 69-year-old dog-walker Thursday as the other teen got into her car. Police say the woman was attacked with a heavy object and severely injured. They say the first teen then joined the other teen in the car, but then both fled on foot.

It’s unclear if the teens have lawyers who can comment on their behalf.
