PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - U.S. Rep. David Cicilline is inviting Rhode Island residents to meet with him to discuss what Democrats are calling a “culture of corruption in Washington.”
The Rhode Island Democrat will host a “community conversation” at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hope High School in Providence.
This month, House Democrats unveiled an elections and ethics reform package that aims to reduce the role of money in politics.
Dubbed the “For the People Act,” it would make it easier for citizens to register and vote, tighten election security and require presidents to disclose their tax returns.
Cicilline is serving his fifth term in Congress. He represents the 1st Congressional District, covering the easternmost part of the state.
He leads messaging efforts for his party as chairman of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee.
