ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a truck driver and a municipal worker have died after a tractor-trailer went off a highway and down an embankment in Rochester.

State police identify the driver as 58-year-old Tracy Premo of Palmyra. Shortly before 9 a.m. Friday, his rig veered off Route 104 for an unknown reason. It struck and killed 30-year-old Jeffrey Farrell, a Monroe County employee who had been working on a storm sewer. Another worker escaped.

The trucker was pinned inside his rig and was pronounced dead after firefighters extricated him.

A car was also struck and the driver taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say a box truck was also hit and had minor damage.

Rochester Fire Lt. Dan O’Toole called it “the most gruesome and tragic incident of my career.”
