SEATTLE (AP) - A 43-year-old Des Moines woman has filed a lawsuit against the Tukwila School District over sexual harassment she says she endured from a teacher decades ago.

The Seattle Times reports Rebecca Bomann filed the lawsuit Monday in King County Superior Court.

The lawsuit says that in her freshman and sophomore years at Foster High School Bomann was pursued through romantic notes, comments and a valentine from Steve Escame, a teacher in his 50s.

Bomann’s lawsuit says the district failed to protect her from a man who had a “known sexual propensity toward students.”

Records from Escame’s tenure include a 1987 letter of reprimand following allegations of sexual comments made to other students.

The district said it doesn’t comment on current litigation.

Escame expressed surprise when told about the harassment claims, saying he probably did, though he added that he used to tease everybody.
