President Trump has been briefed on an attack on U.S. soldiers in Syria in which several troops reportedly were killed by the Islamic State, the White House said Wednesday.
“The president has been fully briefed, and we will continue to monitor the ongoing situation in Syria,” said White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Operation Inherent Resolve, the U.S.-led coalition in Syria, confirmed on Twitter only that coalition members had “conducted a routine patrol” in Syria on Wednesday and said it was still gathering information.
