Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the ranking of member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said Wednesday that Attorney General nominee William P. Barr’s answers about whether or not he would release special counsel Robert Mueller’s final report were “confusing.”
“When I first asked him about the report, he said he would make it available, but it seems to me that as the day progressed, he mentioned writing his own report and viewed the Mueller report as confidential,” Ms. Feinstein said to open the second day of Mr. Barr’s confirmation hearing.
Ms. Feinstein, California Democrat, said she intended to follow-up with Mr. Barr because “my vote depends on it.”
Mr. Barr said during his testimony Tuesday that he would “get out as much information as I can” on Mr. Mueller’s conclusions, but he said the special counsel’s report is a prosecutor’s document that are typically kept confidential.
